Why Am I Doing This Project.
I was inspired by my grandparents to create this service project to help others get connected through technology. When the coronavirus hit the U.S. in February 2020, my grandmother was working as a substitute teacher. This forced her to start having to teach online, which she had never done before, so she asked for my help. Once I had shown her how to use the technology to teach online, she felt relieved that she could do her job. She really encouraged me to use these skills to help other people break down technology barriers and get connected to their loved ones and to their jobs. This certainly set off the idea to change my Think Globally, Problem-solve Locally, Act Neighborly (TGPLAN) project that is part of my program of study at Austin High School.
During quarantine you can feel isolated and disconnected from other people. Using my technology skills and desire to help other people, I want to help people out by making them feel like they are connected with their friends and family. Since the service is free of charge, I'm hoping that more people will utilize this service.

Statistics Of Technology Use Since Coronavirus Hit The U.S.
Since the coronavirus hit the U.S. in late February, according to "Technology Review, there has been about a 25% increase in internet traffic". In the first two months of 2020, there has been more use of Zoom, than there was all of last year. The increase in online traffic has led to a greater need to learn the technology faster.
